FLIRTING WITH HISTORY

The Vikings' Blair Walsh attempted a 68-yard field goal as time expired Sunday in Detroit. The longest attempt in NFL history was a 76-yarder by Sebastian Janikowski of Oakland in 2007. The record for the longest made field goal is 64 yards by Denver's Matt Prater last year; Prater is Detroit's kicker this season. He broke the record of 63 yards held by four players — Tom Dempsey of New Orleans (1970), Jason Elam of Denver (1998), Janikowski (2011) and David Akers of San Francisco (2012).
