Whether or not his dismissal from the Vikings was intended to stifle his political rhetoric, Chris Kluwe will at least get one more chance to get loud on the musical front before leaving town.

The ex-Vikings punter's hard-rock band Tripping Icarus will perform Tuesday night at Cause nightclub in Uptown as a farewell of sorts to its bassist. Singer/guitarist Jesse Damien Revel was already scheduled to perform there at 10 p.m. with his other group, Crooked Saws, which also features tripping drummer Matthew Marshal.

“Tripping Icarus will be playing the second half of that set as a last-minute bon voyage,” Revel revealed, admitting the future of the Tool-style prog-metal band – which just finished recording a new album last month – is hanging in the air like one of Kluwe’s long kicks until they know which NFL team will pick him up. But Revel doubts this will be the end.

“I would say that we'll be playing far fewer shows this year until we know what's what,” he said, but added that it could actually lead to TI playing in whatever city where he winds up playing. Kluwe already spends most of the off-season at his home in California. He was officially let go by the Vikings yesterday after the team picked up a top-rated young kicker in the draft.
