Simpson questionable; status to be determined this weekend

Posted by: Mark Craig under Injury report, NFC, Adrian Peterson, Antoine Winfield, Percy Harvin Updated: October 12, 2012 - 2:31 PM

Adrian Peterson's ankle looks good to go, but Jerome Simpson's lower leg weakness will need further evaluation before coach Leslie Frazier knows the extent of Simpson's role, if any, in Sunday's game at Washington.

"Jerome was better today," said Frazier, who listed Simpson as questionable on the injury report. "We'll determine over the weekend what's going to happen, how much he's going to play or if he's going to play at all."

Simpson was ineffective in last week's 30-7 win over Tennessee, failing to catch any of the three passes thrown his way after waking up that morning with weakness and numbness in his lower left leg. A magnetic resonance imaging exam on Monday revealed a back issue as the cause.

Simpson sat out Wednesday's practice and was limited in practice Thursday and today.

Peterson, who is listed as probable, missed Wednesday's practice and was limited on Thursday, but he had full participation on Friday.

"He moved well," Frazier said. "He feels very comfortable. He did good moving in and out of his cuts. I think he's ready to go."

In other injury news:

  • Receiver Percy Harvin, who was limited on Thursday because of hamstring tightness, was listed as having full participation on today's official injury report, although Frazier said after practice that the team "limited him some" in practice today. "He did much better today," Frazier said. "Just want to make sure he's ready for the game." Harvin is listed as probable.
  • Linebacker Marvin Mitchell (calf) didn't practice and is listed as doubtful.
  • Safety Mistral Raymond ran for the first time since suffering a dislocated right ankle in the Week 3 win over the 49ers. "He's getting closer," Frazier said. "He's still a few weeks away, but at least we got a start now. He's begun to run, so that's a good sign."
  • Cornerback Antoine Winfield (knee) was limited in practice today. Other players on the injury report who had full participation today were safety Andrew Sendejo (ankle), left guard Charlie Johnson (lower back) and quarterback Christian Ponder (knee). Johnson, Sendejo, Winfield and Ponder are listed as probable.
