By now, Bears coach Lovie Smith has to know there are always going to be fires to tamp down as long as Jay Cutler is his quarterback. Earlier this week, he had to chew out defensive back D.J. Moore for criticizing Cutler's less-than-tactful treatment of struggling left tackle J'Marcus Webb during a nationally televised loss to the Packers. "He [Smith] wasn't happy at all,'' Moore told the Sun-Times. "He said, 'Don't say it in this setting' or 'don't say it here' or 'don't say it there.' He was just telling me the right way to do stuff."

Finally, the Lions will get a real game-action peek at Mikel Leshoure. Whether he's the savior to a nonexistent running game remains to be seen, although teammates are excited about what they've seen in practice. "You talk to anybody and the potential is unreal," said center Dominic Raiola. Leshoure, the second-round pick in 2011, missed his rookie season because of a torn Achilles tendon, most of this year's training camp because of a hamstring injury and the first two games because of a league suspension. He'll play Sunday at Tennessee.

Virtually every player in the league would be fined if the league were fining players for criticizing the replacement officials. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers jumped on the pile this week after watching the refs lose control in the Ravens-Eagles and Falcons-Broncos games. "I thought in both of those games that player safety was compromised at times, and the game got a little out of hand," he said on his weekly radio show on 540 ESPN and ESPNWisconsin.com.
