THE ROAD BACK

In a Christmas Eve victory at Washington last season, Adrian Peterson was injured as he planted his left leg and was tackled by Redskins cornerback DeJon Gomes. Here's the rest of the story:

Dec. 30, 2011: Had surgery to repair torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.

Jan. 13: Walked without crutches.

March 26: Began running.

May 9: Cleared to begin cutting on his knee, had an impressive 15-minute workout for reporters at Winter Park.

July 7: Arrested in Houston after police said he pushed an off-duty officer and resisted arrest at a nightclub. He posts $1,000 bond.

July 13: During a court appearance in Houston for a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, Peterson said: "I didn't push, shove, touch anything to anyone that night, especially an officer. I definitely don't have a problem with the Houston PD. This involves two individual officers that I have an issue with."

July 27: Began training camp on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list. During subsequent practices, worked out on the side of the field with trainers.

July 30: Briefly hospitalized in Mankato after an allergic reaction during the team's lunch at training camp.

Aug. 6: After a brief appearance in Houston, had a pretrial date set for Sept. 27, which he is not required to attend. The next court date, Nov. 15, comes during the Vikings' bye week.

Aug. 12: Taken off the PUP list and began practicing with his teammates.
