Coming early Thursday: More Vikings stadium drama

The plan for a new Minnesota Vikings stadium will have another opportunity Thursday to inch forward – or not.
The House Rules and Legislative Administration Committee on Thursday will consider whether to give a procedural exemption at the state Capitol to the $975 million stadium plan. It will also consider an exemption for an accompanying proposal to allow electronic bingo and pull tabs and sports-themed tip boards in Minnesota.
Because the Legislature is in its final weeks before adjournment, both plans need an exemption in order to remain alive.
House Republicans have proposed allowing electronic bingo and pull tabs and sports-themed tip boards as part of a public subsidy package for the Vikings stadium. The revenue from the new games would be used for the state's $398 million contribution to the stadium.
So far, the stadium project has been approved by just one House panel -- and none in the Senate. A Senate committee heard testimony on the new stadium last month, but did not vote.
