Scott Diamond pitched this morning in a "camp game" between Class AAA Rochester and Class AA New Britain. So that means he accepted his assignment and reported for duty.

With Diamond now in the Red Wings rotation, lefthander Sean Gilmartin will start the season at New Britain. Rochester's rotation is Diamond, Alex Meyer, Trevor May, Logan Darnell and Kris Johnson.

Gilmartin will join D.J. Baxendale, Pat Dean and others in the New Britain rotation.

That led to us wondering about the whereabouts of Alex Wimmers. Wimmers, I was told, will be a starter at Fort Myers.

The Twins are major chill mode as they rode the bus across town to face the Red Sox in the spring training finale. I foresee a lot of first-pitch swings today.

The Twins officially selected the contracts of Jason Bartlett and Jason Kubel and reassigned Dan Rohlfing to the minor league camp. The Twins are now down to 25 players.

They head to Chicago tonight and will have an informal workout on Sunday U.S. Cellular Field. The won't be allowed to use the infield, which was an area of concern as the White Sox groundscrew - led by the legendary Roger Bossard - have had to remove 400 tons of snow from the field. The bigger problem was the 30 inches of permafrost they had to deal with.

We have a distinguished group of minor league extras here today: Niko Goodrum, Levi Michael, A.J. Pettersen, Travis Harrison and Adam Brett Walker.
