Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.

DETROIT -- Today’s series finale at Comerica Park will feature two pitchers riding hot streaks.

Twins lefty Scott Diamond has tossed eight innings in back-to-back wins, and Tigers righty Rick Porcello is 3-1 with a 2.52 ERA over his past four starts.

After winning the first two games here in Detroit, and losing Wednesday to Justin Verlander, the Twins have a chance to leave town with a big series victory.

Update: Josh Willingham is getting a standard day off, with Darin Mastroianni getting a start in left field.
