Postgame: Revere and Doumit rack up four hits apiece

CINCINNATI -- I focused the game story on the bullpen, but the Twins wouldn't have had a lead to protect without Ben Revere and Ryan Doumit, as each matched a career high with four hits.
Revere was hitless in 15 consecutive at-bats coming into the game but went 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and a sacrifice fly that brought home the tying run in the sixth inning.
“I told him to keep playing because he’s fun to watch,” Manager Ron Gardenhire said. “I don’t want him to start changing and trying to do too much because he’s a playing really well. The kid got his hits on his own. I didn’t help him a bit. I just want him to be himself because he’s a good player.”
Doumit also went 4-for-4, thumping a double and a home run in his first two at-bats. He now has seven home runs at Great American Ballpark. That’s the second most that he’s hit anywhere behind the 41 at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park.
“This place has always been good to me,” Doumit said. “Tonight was a good game. It was a great team win.”
