Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.
Speculation continues to build that the Twins will host the 2014 All-Star Game.
On Thursday night, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported via Twitter that the Mets will host the 2013 All-Star Game, with the Twins hosting in 2014.
After returning from the quarterly owners meetings in Phoenix late Thursday, Twins president Dave St. Peter said, via text message, that nothing was made official.
“We have submitted our bid [for the 2014 event],” St. Peter said. “Still waiting for MLB response.”
Major League Baseball has made no announcements beyond this year’s All-Star Game, which will be in Kansas City. Since the Mets are still waiting for their announcement, nothing official is expected regarding the Twins and 2014 for several months.
