La Velle E. Neal III has covered baseball for the Star Tribune since 1998 (the post-Knoblauch era). Born and raised in Chicago, he grew up following the White Sox and hating the Cubs. He attended both the University of Illinois and Illinois-Chicago and began his baseball writing career at the Kansas City Star. He can be heard occasionally on KFAN radio, lending his great baseball mind to Paul Allen and other hosts. Mark Rosen borrows him occasionally for WCCO-TV.

UPDATE: There's not much of one, mainly because Gardenhire was too busy with workouts that he had no time to talk to us.

So we're waiting for an Michael Cuddyer update. Cuddyer was supposed to get some cream shipped in to help with the wart on his left foot. Cuddyer did take batting practice and jog around the bases before the game.

But a Twins official told me that they don't want Cuddyer to be in a situation where he's treating the wart every day for six months, so a decision has to be made. ``pretty soon,'' on if Cuddyer has to have the wart removed, which could sideline him for a few weeks.
