Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.

Stark names Cuddyer to his All Underrated Team

ESPN's Jayson Stark picked Michael Cuddyer as the right fielder on his All Underrated Team. The whole story is a fun read -- as Stark says, let the debates begin -- but here's part of how he explains his Cuddyer selection:

I knew Cuddyer had to be on this team someplace. If the guy would just stop playing five positions a year, it would be a lot easier to figure out where to put him. But while I'm penciling him into my lineup in right field because that's where he's played the most, it was his half season playing first base last year that best summed up what he's doing in this column.

This guy had started 64 games at first in his whole career coming into last season. Then, down went Justin Morneau, and Cuddyer started the next 67 games there in a row. Turned out the Twins won 46 of those games. Maybe that's a coincidence, but maybe not -- because, in the words of one scout, "Michael Cuddyer is a winner."
