Twins lefthander Francisco Liriano has been selected as the 2010 American League Comeback Player of the Year in voting conducted by mlb.com beat writers.

Liriano, in his fifth Major League season, re-established himself as one of the best pitchers in baseball as helped lead the Minnesota Twins to the A.L. Central title. Liriano, who missed all of 2007 after undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery, made just 14 starts in 2008 and 24 starts in 2009 while battling arm fatigue. The 26-year-old left-hander went 14-10 with a 3.62 ERA in 31 starts in 2010.

In 191.2 innings, he surrendered 77 earned runs on 184 hits with 58 walks and 201 strikeouts. Francisco set career-highs in wins, starts, innings pitched and strikeouts. The 2006 A.L. All-Star finished fifth in the A.L. in strikeouts (second among left-handers behind Boston's Jon Lester) and tied for the league's second-longest winning streak with a career-best eight-game winning streak from July 16th-September 14th (11 starts).

Liriano was selected A.L. Pitcher of the Month in April after going 3-0 with a 0.93 ERA,
