Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.

Tests find no problem in Pressly's sore triceps

WASHINGTON -- Ryan Pressly was "kind of freaked out" when he felt a stinging in his pitching arm, but he was relieved after the game when tests uncovered no apparent problem.

Pressly was pitching to Nationals' third baseman Ryan Zimmerman in the sixth inning of the Twins' 7-0 loss Sunday, and felt an odd sensation in his arm as he released a first-pitch curveball. "On the next pitch, I felt a stinger in back, in my tricep," said Pressly said, who described the sensation as similar to hitting your funny bone. "It was really weird. I never had anything like that happen to me before."

Pressly was immediately removed from the game, and replaced by Josh Roenicke. In the trainers' room, Pressly underwent tests on his shoulder and elbow, "but everything checked out fine," he said. "I'll probably come in [Monday] and throw a little bit, see if there's any discomfort."

He's considered day-to-day with tricep soreness, the Twins said.

A couple of other notes: Miguel Sano homered twice in his farewell to Class A baseball -- shortly after Fort Myers' game Sunday, he was promoted to Class AA New Britain.

Class AAA Rochester has a new player, too, albeit just temporarily: Trevor Plouffe has been sent there on a rehab assignment as he recovers from a calf injury. He's eligible to come off the disabled list on June 14.

Here are the lineups for Game 2, with Chris Herrmann batting second for the first time:
