GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Ponies overpower East Ridge

• STILLWATER 13, EAST RIDGE 2: Carly Fedorowski and Carter Sanderson each scored three goals as the Ponies topped the Raptors in the Section 4 championship game. Stillwater jumped to a 10-1 halftime lead and sealed the victory behind goalie Katie Lottsfeldt’s eight saves.

• APPLE VALLEY 15, EASTVIEW 10: The top-seeded Eagles defeated the Lightning in the Section 3 semifinals. Apple Valley battled to a 8-5 halftime lead and staved off an Eastview comeback to advance to the section championship against Burnsville.

• BLAKE 17, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 3: Adelaide Winton scored five goals and Olivia Nolan tallied four to lead the top-ranked Bears over the Red Knights in the Section 6 championship game. The victory sends Blake back to the state tournament looking for its fifth consecutive state championship.

• BURNSVILLE 12, PRIOR LAKE 6: The No. 2-seed Blaze eliminated the Lakers in the Section 3 semifinals behind a 5-0 second-half run. Burnsville took a 6-4 lead into halftime before expanding the lead to 11-4 and an eventual 12-6 win. The Blaze will face Apple Valley on at 5 p.m. Thursday for the section title.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Blake tops Benilde for title

• BLAKE 11, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 6: Grant Oie scored two goals and added four assists to boost the No. 1-seed Bears over No. 2-seed Red Knights in the Section 6 championship game. Oie scored the first goal of the game to start a 3-0 run for Blake before Benilde-St. Margaret’s got on the board at the end of the first quarter. The Bears broke it open in the second quarter, scoring six times and jumping to a 9-2 lead at halftime. Quinn Ellis, who scored five goals in the game for Blake, added two more in the third quarter to extend the lead to 11-3. The Bears return to the state tournament for the second consecutive year.

BASEBALL

Eden Prairie edges New Prague

• EDEN PRAIRIE 3, NEW PRAGUE 2: Marc Gasner hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to push the Eagles past the Trojans in the Class 3A, Section 2 championship game. Eden Prairie grabbed an early 2-1 lead, but New Prague battled back to tie it in the third. The game remained deadlocked for the next five innings before Gasner’s game-winner. The Eagles will return to the state tournament for the first time since 2012.
