Sammy Schmitz of Valleywood Golf Course successfully defended his title in the Minnesota Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship at Midland Hills Country Club on Wednesday.
Schmitz fired a final-round 73 to give him a 54-hole total of 215 (1 under par), good for a two-stroke margin over Daryl Schomer (Wapicada GC) and a three-shot edge over Jesse Bull (Golden Valley G&CC) and John Anderson (Bunker Hills GC).
With the victory, Schmitz also claimed his second consecutive MGA Player of the Year title.
