"We have two color peaks at Lake Bemidji State Park. The hardwoods peak about the end of September. It's a really pretty drive into the park when the colors are at their peak, because the road is lined with sugar maple and basswood. And then a little bit later in the color season our bog turns golden with tamarack and aspen trees. That's generally about the second week in October. The colors in the bog are definitely more subtle than the bright oranges of the maple trees, but our bog walk is colorful even in the fall. Also along the bog trail, the pitcher plant turns magenta — which looks very attractive against all the reddening moss."
