Lynx update: For the first time since last season, the Lynx will have power forward Rebekkah Brunson in the lineup. The Lynx could be fully healthy for the first time all season by week’s end. Despite being without Brunson, Seimone Augustus (for the past eight games) G Monica Wright and F Devereaux Peters (to start the season), the Lynx’s 17-6 record is the same after 23 games as it was last year. Brunson’s return brings more rebounding and strong defense; she averaged 10.6 points and 8.9 rebounds in 2013. The Lynx have won four in a row and six of seven games leading up to the All-Star break. F Maya Moore leads the league in scoring (24.1), and on Monday was named Western Conference player of the week for the second consecutive time, and third time this season. Minnesota is ninth in the league in offensive rebound percentage. C Janel McCarville has scored in double figures in three of four games, shooting 20-for-28 in that time.

Dream update: Coach Michael Cooper is taking a leave of absence after being diagnosed with early-stage tongue cancer. Cooper, who will undergo a surgical procedure this week, will be out at least two weeks. Assistant coach Karleen Thompson will assume head coaching duties. Atlanta (15-6) is the only team in the Eastern Conference — and one of only three teams in the league — with a winning record. The Dream went into the All-Star break on the heels of a two-point loss at New York last Wednesday, but has won 12 of its past 15 games. Atlanta is the WNBA’s fourth-highest scoring team. It also is first in the league in second-chance points (14.8) and fast-break points (12.8) and is second in steals, scoring differential and points off turnovers. G/F Angel McCoughtry is fourth in the league in scoring (20.0). She and F Sancho Lyttle are 1-2 in steals (2.35 and 2.29, respectively). Rookie G Shoni Schimmel is coming off a 29-point, eight-assist MVP performance in the All-Star Game.
