Douglas out for Indiana for Game 1 of WNBA Finals

Katie Douglas, Indiana's second-leading scorer in the playoffs, has been scratched from the starting lineup for tonight's Game 1 of the WNBA Finals.

Douglas, a left-handed shooting guard, sprained her left ankle on Thursday in the Fever's win at Connecticut. She was originally listed among the probable starters but a few minutes ago a sheet with confirmed starters was passed put. And on it, she was replaced by Shavonte Zellous.

Truth be told, Indiana knew along she would not play. Unless she caught a last-minute flight to Minneapolis. She is in Indianapolis receiving treatment on her ankle.

If the name Zellous rings a bell, it should. Her basket at the buzzer enabled Indiana to beat the Sun in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Douglas is averaging 15.5 points in the playoffs, Zellous 6.3.

The other four starters for Indiana:

Tamika Catchings, 16.8 points, 10.2 rebounds

Briann January, 12.5 points, 3.8 assists

Erlana Larkins, 10.8 points, 10.2 rebounds

Erin Phillips, 7.8 points, 1.2 assists

The Lynx starting five is the same as always. And they are well-rested. They last played last Sunday in Los Angeles.

Seimone Augustus, 19.4 points, 4.8 rebounds

Rebekkah Brunson, 14 points, 11 rebounds

Taj McWilliams-Franklin, 5.8 points, 4.4 rebounds

Maya Moore, 17.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists

Lindsay Whalen, 13 points, .4.4 assists

BAD MEMORIES

The only time Indiana played the Lynx at Target Center was Sept. 17 this season. The Fever led 43-40 at halftime, but left with a 86-79 loss and coach Lin Dunn was not too happy.

"I'm very concerned with Zellous and Briann," Dunn said, referring to her starting guards. "It looks like from feedback that I'm getting the game was very furious with hits to the head with elbows and forearms and there wasn't a foul caled on either one."

Zellous and January missed the final three regular-season games with concussion-like symptoms. Both returned for Indiana's first playoff game against Atlanta.

"It was very physical out there on both ends of the floor," Dunn said. "It's hard for me to believe that we got seven free throws and they got 20, so when you look at it that was the difference in the ball game."

Indiana was six of seven from the line. The Lynx were 17 of 20 on free throws.

"I thought we battled and did all the things we needed to do, but that discrepancy we couldn't overcome."

Not could the Fever stop Moore, who had 29 points and made six three-pointers.

"Maya stepped up and in the fourth quarter and really knocked down some big shots," Dunn said, and then got back to the free throws. "I just can't believe they played the game on only 12 fouls. We had to carry two of our players out. I'm just puzzled."
