No surprises so far. Second-seeded Breck controlled play from the opening faceoff in the first period of its Class 1A girls state quarterfinal game against New Ulm and leads 1-0 after 17 minutes. But its been all Mustangs.
Carly Schaeder got the them on the board just 91 seconds into the game. Kayla Mork's snap shot was deflected to the left by New Ulm goalie Shalyn Salonek, but directly to Schaeder who had a wide open net for the sweep-in.
How one-sided has it been? New Ulm did not get its first shot on goal until a lazy wrister from the defense was put on with 8:27 to go in the first.
Shots so far are 21-3 in favor of Breck.
