In a long-awaited move, the NHL Competition Committee has recommended that visors will be grandfathered in starting in the 2013-14 season. Players who have played 26 or more regular-season/playoff games won't have to wear visors.
The NHL will also experiment during the next preseason with hybrid icing and nets that are four inches shallower to allow more room to make plays. There will also be a committee created to look at goalie and skater equipment. Also starting next season, all four-minute high-sticking penalties would be subject to video review.
This is all subject to approval by the Board of Governors this month.
Training camp for the Wild begins Sept. 11.
