Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. Wolves and Adelman: Let the negotiations begin...

The Wolves have prepared a contract offer for Rick Adelman and are expected to know this week, perhaps as early as Monday, if they can reach a deal for him to coach their team, league sources with knowledge of the search said Sunday.

Here's the story for Monday's paper and tonight's web site.

You might have noticed Saturday's Hoopsworld.com piece that generated headlines everywhere, saying Adelman was close to reaching a deal with the Wolves and would do so sometime this coming week.

I'm not certain you can say the Wolves will offer just what he seeks -- probably five years and $25 million or more -- or when it comes down to decision time that he'll really say yes.

But we'll know soon, perhaps really soon.
