Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could convince the world to love jumpsuits as much as he does. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Stu's Hunt Down: Ex-Wolves player Kendall Gill

Posted by: Michael Rand under Sports Updated: March 18, 2011 - 12:51 PM

Commenter Stu does his thing weekly. Just know that originally in the headline we typed hung, not hunt (but caught it before publishing). Totally different. Stu?

-----------------------

The Huntdown

Name: Kendall Gill

Claim to Fame, Minnesota: the Timberwolves signed the veteran swingman to a free agent contract in 2002. Gill played in every game of the 2002-03 season, starting 34 of them and combining with Troy Hudson to give Minnesota some of the best hair in the NBA that season. He would sign with the Bulls as a free agent the following year.

Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: best known as a key part of the Illinois “Flyin’ Illini” squad (Nick Anderson, Kenny Battle, Marcus Liberty, etc.) that made the Final Four in 1989 before losing to the Glen Rice/Rumeal Robinson-led Michigan Wolverines. (Bonus Hunt Down nugget: Robinson was sentenced in January to 6 ½ years in prison for bank bribery and wire fraud.) Charlotte drafted Gill with the 5th overall pick in the 1990 draft, leaving the Wolves with Felton Spencer at number 6. His 15-year NBA career was spent with 7 different squads.

Is He On Twitter: there are a couple Kendall Gills, but none that appear to be him.

Where He Is Now: works as a studio analyst for the Chicago Bulls. He has also compiled a 4-0 record as a professional boxer, with his last fight taking place in May 2010. I can confirm that John Cusack was there.

Glorious Randomness: in the excellent ESPN documentary on Michigan’s Fab Five, Jalen Rose says that Michigan started the baggy shorts trend. Kendall Gill disagrees. Meanwhile, every male gym teacher in America waits and waits for short shorts to make their rightful, snug comeback.
