Gophers sophomore forward Justin Kloos was named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week on Tuesday.

The speedy center from Lakeville produced his first career hat trick and scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime victory against St. Cloud State.

Kloos leads the Gophers and is tied for the conference lead with five goals on the season. He led the Gophers with 16 goals as a freshman.

Kloos is the first Gopher to complete the hat trick since Sam Warning scored three straight goals last January against Ohio State.

Michigan State junior goaltender Jake Hildebrand earned the Big Ten First Star after limiting nationally ranked Ferris State to a 1.01 goals-against average in a non-conference series split. Ohio State sophomore goaltender Matt Tomkins was the Third Star after stopping 46 of 48 shots against Canisius.

The Gophers return to action this weekend at Mariucci Arena with a Friday and Sunday series against Notre Dame.
