All three Twins prospects in the annual “Fall-Star Game” made a contribution toward the West’s 9-2 victory Saturday in Surprise (Ariz.) Stadium, with righthander Alex Meyer collecting the victory by pitching three scoreless innings.

Using all four of his pitches and a fastball that was clocked in the mid-90s, Meyer gave up three hits and walked one as the West’s starter. But Meyer, who posted a 2.99 ERA with Class AA New Britain last summer, struck out three and didn’t allow a run to a team of some of the game’s top minor league players at the Arizona Fall League.

Center fielder Byron Buxton, the Twins’ top prospect, singled, walked, reached on an error on a sharply hit grounder, stole a base and scored a run in five plate appearances. Second baseman Eddie Rosario entered the game in the fifth inning and went 1-for-2, beating out an infield hit and scoring a run.

Texas first baseman Brett Nicholas and Seattle outfielder Stefen Romero each homered twice before a Fall League-record crowd of 6,529, which included Twins General Manager Terry Ryan and about 150 scouts from around baseball.
