REMOTE PATROL

Super Bowl rematch: No Scott Norwood. Bills vs. Giants, noon, Ch. 4.

NLCS: Can the Cardinals repeat 1982 and knock off the Brewers? 3 p.m., TBS.

Cowboys & Aliens: Er, that should read Cowboys vs. Patriots. 3 p.m., Ch. 9.

Plenty to prove: Vikings' strengths are Bears weak-nesses. 7:20 p.m., Ch. 11.

THE BUZZ

FAST FACT MLB announced it is sending a group of "Major League All-Stars" to an exhibition series in Taiwan next month. Curtis Granderson, Robinson Cano and Miguel Cabrera are among those expected to play. So, too, are ... Danny Valencia and Drew Butera of the Twins? Nothing against those two, but they don't quite seem to be in the same class as those other fellas.

Click pick Ricky Rubio, always active on Twitter, had this to say from his account earlier this week (@rickyrubio9): "I'm thinking about make a big present for u fans. Any idea?" Nothing comes to mind. Oh, except maybe a season?

Salute to the Lynx

I attended a number of Lynx basketball games this season and was fortunate to be present when the Lynx won two home games in the WNBA Finals. During the summer my wife and I accompanied 10 of our children and grandchildren to see a Lynx game at Target Center. Talk about excitement. Talk about entertainment. One of our granddaughters said afterward, "That was the most fun I've ever had." Rachel Blount's recent column appropriately praised the Minnesota Lynx players for their superb athletic talent, teamwork and first-class demeanor. What impressive models of character they are for our young people. All Minnesotans should feel very proud of what the Lynx accomplished this season.

Women's hockey, too

There is no question that the Lynx rank among the best teams in Minnesota history (Page C2, Oct. 10). For the most part I can agree with the list of most dominant teams in Minnesota history -- with one exception. It did not include the University of Minnesota women's hockey teams of the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. The '03-04 team had a record of 30-4-2, finished first in the WCHA and was NCAA champion; the '04-05 team had a record of 36-2-2 and again finished first in the WCHA and repeated as NCAA champion.
