A suspect who stabbed a Minneapolis Police K-9 and eluded a massive manhunt in Blaine last week turned himself in to authorities Sunday.

L.C. Wesley Armstrong is being held in the Anoka County Jail.

The Anoka County Sheriff's department confirmed that Armstrong surrendered, and said they would be providing more details later this morning.

Armstrong fled after Minneapolis police pulled him over in north Minneapolis early Tuesday morning and observed open alcohol containers in his car.

He led police on a chase that ended in Blaine, when his vehicle was disabled by stop sticks and a stopping maneuver by a State Patrol trooper.

Armstrong, who previously had been convicted of manslaughter, fled into the woods and a Minneapolis K-9 went after him. The dog returned from the woods with multiple stab wounds. The wounds were severe, but the dog survived.

Authorities sealed off the wooded and residential area that Armstrong ran towards, but a day-long search failed to find him.
