The previous blog featured an item from the National Football Post that the Vikings and Raiders were discussing the availability of quarterback Sage Rosenfels. While something involving Rosenfels certainly could happen, two NFL sources said Sunday they have no knowledge of trade talks involving Rosenfels.

Michael Lombardi, who wrote the item for National Football Post, made it sound as if things were very preliminary between the Vikings and Raiders. As Lombardi also points out, the Vikings would only trade Rosenfels if they knew that Brett Favre was going to return for the 2010 season.

Vikings coach Brad Childress has said that Favre has yet to make a decision about his future. One thing that is fairly certain is Favre isn't going to be coming back anytime soon and there appears a very real chance that he could join the Vikings after the Mankato portion of training camp is complete. That is what Favre did last season.

If that happens, the Vikings are going to need Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson to serve as their quarterbacks during the offseason and training-camp workouts and there is a chance they will need to sign another young QB to take some of the reps. Jackson is a restricted free agent but is expected to return.
