Minnesota playwrights and actors often show up at the Humana Festival of New American Plays each year. One production, however, stands out a bit this time around. "Fissures (lost and found)" is a collaboration that lists six artists with Twin Cities ties. Dominque Serrand and Steve Epp hail from the late Theatre de la Jeune Lune; Cory Hinkle, Dominic Orlando, Deborah Stein and Victoria Stewart are writers from the Workhaus Collective.

Serrand, who is directing the production at Actors Theatre of Louisville, approached the playwrights in the fall of 2008 and after several meetings, they decided to craft a show centered around the imperfection of memory. Stewart said Marc Masterson, Actors Theatre's artistic director, had a look at the piece in June of last year and agreed to bring it to Louisville. What happens after Humana of course depends on what happens at Humana but Stewart said a few theaters have expressed interest. Serrand and the others were in rehearsal Wednesday morning and not available for comment.

Incidentally, Stein has a twofer at Humana. Her play "Heist," which she developed with director Sean Daniels, runs March 11-28.

"Fissures" is scheduled to open Feb. 26 and run until March 28. If you're up for a trip to Louisville, go here for information on both shows and the rest of the fest.
