• Testimony was brief Monday, upstaged by a letter to the court from Norm Coleman's lawyers asking the three-judge panel to reconsider parts of its ruling Friday. Coleman's attorneys say the court, by ruling various categories of rejected absentee ballots illegally cast, has created an "equal protection problem" because many votes already counted in the recount or on Election Day would also be invalid under the new rules. All votes and voters must be treated equally, Coleman's lawyers say, under the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of "equal protection of the laws" for all citizens.
