Danny Santana is listed as a centerfielder and shortstop at www.baseball-reference.com, which isn't right. Santana is supposed to be a shortstop but has made 55 starts in center because the position was in flux before he showed up. Santana might be the Twins' best player right now, and his value goes up if he's at short.

Thanks to the arrival of Aaron Hicks from Class AAA Rochester., Santana is making his 20th start of the season at shortstop. And he should get more playing time there before the season is over.

With the Angels coming in tomorrow, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire decided to alter tonight's lineup a bit. He can rest a couple of players today, then fire out his best lineup tomorrow against a team fighting for the postseason.

Brian Dozier and Trevor Plouffe, if it works out, get night's off. Dozier has been able to lobby to remain in the lineup, but not tonight. ``I couldn't talk him out of it,'' Dozier said.

Hicks, but the way, has playing winter ball as an option. This was a mini-issue last season, when the Twins would  have liked for him to get some extra work in but he resisted. Now he says there are three teams interested and that he could play. It depends on how much he plays this month, and what kind of schedule he'll end up with during the offseason. Sounds like he would like to play a half-season of winter ball then return to the USA around the Christmas holiday.

The Twins are honoring Paul Konerko, who is retiring after the season and is playing his final game in the Twin Cities. There will be a video tribute and a check presented to one of Konerko's charities.

In 256 games against the Twins, Konerko has batted .286 with 50 homers - the most against any opponent - and 130 RBI.
