NORTHFIELD

Jewell brings unique brand of Americana music to town

American singer-songwriter Eilen Jewell will perform with her band at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Star Tribune music critic Jon Bream said of the Idaho-born Jewell in 2013: "Eilen Jewell's "Queen of the Minor Key" was the undiscovered Americana gem of 2011. The Boise-bred, Boston-based singer/songwriter mixes alt-country with a little jazz, blues, rockabilly and surf rock to create an alluring old-school vibe. … She suggests an older, darker Norah Jones who starts writing songs three whiskeys after midnight."

She and her band have toured the world and shared the stage with Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, George Jones and Emmylou Harris, and TV shows "Sons of Anarchy" and "True Blood" have featured her music. Jewell is recording her fifth full-length solo album. For more on Jewell, see www.eilenjewell.com.

Tickets are $25; to buy, call 507-645-8877 or visit www.northfieldartsguild.org, or purchase tickets at the door. The theater is at 411 W. 3rd St.
