Bail was set at $25,000 with conditions Monday for John Iverson, who is accused of being drunk when he struck and killed a bicyclist earlier this month.

Conditions include making future court appearances, meeting with a probation officer and not driving. Bail without conditions was set at $150,000.

Iverson, 49, is charged with criminal vehicular homicide, accused of running down 26-year-old Marcus Nalls on Franklin Avenue in south Minneapolis Feb. 3. A preliminary breath test showed Iverson had a blood alcohol level of 0.27, which is three times the legal limit. Further tests are still pending.

Iverson appeared quiet and reserved in Hennepin County District Court Monday afternoon, and was almost unrecognizable after apparently getting his haircut and dyed dark brown. In his mug shot, he had long, unruly gray hair and a beard.

Lisa Skrzeczkoski, Iverson's attorney, had sought a lower bail amount, given his lack of major criminal convictions and the fact that he turned himself in. Iverson has no previous felony convictions.

Several members of Iverson's family were at the hearing, and gathered outside the courtroom after his appearance. They declined to comment.

Iverson's next court appearance is set for March 14 at 10 a.m.
