BEMIDJI, Minn. — A man implicated by his brother in the 1998 death of his sister has been acquitted of murder in Beltrami County.

A jury delivered a not guilty verdict Thursday for Troy Martin in the asphyxiation death of Leisa Martin. The cold case was finally brought to trial after a grand jury indictment was thrown out in 2012 and the state charged Troy Martin with second-degree murder.

KAWE-TV (http://bit.ly/1eXWwne ) reports Martin's brother, Todd, confessed in 2010 to being involved in moving his sister's body and told law enforcement officers it was Troy who caused Leisa's death.

Todd Martin will be sentenced for aiding and abetting manslaughter after the fact.
