BALLET OF THE DOLLS
Friday-next Sunday: It's not often that we get a second chance to see a Sage-nominated performance right before the annual awards program in October, but next weekend is an exception. Ballet of the Dolls ventures away from its home base at the Ritz Theater in northeast Minneapolis for downtown's Cowles Center to perform the award-worthy "Venus and Adonis." This romantic multimedia meditation features choreography by the inimitable Myron Johnson set to an array of love songs from Kate Bush, Carole King, Tracy Chapman and others. (7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 2 p.m. next Sun. $29. The Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 612-206-3600, www.thecowlescenter.org.)
