The Utah Jazz have drafted UCLA guard Shabazz Muhammad with the 14th overall pick in the first round of the NBA draft on Thursday night.
A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the Jazz are sending Muhammad and the 21st overall pick to Minnesota for Michigan point guard Trey Burke. The person requested anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced.
The Timberwolves took Burke with the ninth overall selection as part of the deal.
Muhammad averaged 17.9 points and 5.2 rebounds as a freshman last year. The 6-foot-6 guard will give the Wolves the size at shooting guard that they need after playing smaller Luke Ridnour and J.J. Barea at that position last season.
