Finnish goaltender Antti Raanta has agreed to terms with the Chicago Blackhawks, colleagues Vesa Rantanen and Juha Hiitela of Urheilusanomat reported today.
Raanta, 24, backstopped Assat Pori to a championship in the Finnish Elite League this past season. He was regular-season MVP, Goalie of the Year and Playoff MVP.
The Wild was one of a number of teams that pursued the goalie.
The Wild begins organizational meetings this week, meetings that should set the direction for this offseason. GM Chuck Fletcher said Priority No. 1 is trying to secure a No. 1 goalie and that starts with talking to Niklas Backstrom, who can become a free agent July 5 if unsigned by Minnesota beforehand.
