The old-dog St. Paul microbrew pioneers at Summit seemed to be keeping up with new-trick specialists Surly's flagship beer Furious when they unleashed this heavily hopped American IPA last summer. However, Sága — named after a Norse goddess – proved to have her own seductive charms. In bottles, it's usually a lot cheaper than Furious, too. The golden color is a good hint of the bready, crisp, slightly fruity flavor. Having so many smaller breweries and seasonal brews flood the market has been a blessing to Minnesota beer lovers, but it's also nice to have a fine brew like this that you can always count on finding. summitbrewing.com
