Joe Mauer's last swing before the WBC unleashed a rocket - right at Red Sox first baseman Lyle Overbay who used it to end the fifth with an unassisted double play,

Mauer is batting .364 as he leaves camp to join the Team USA cause,

When someone told him to come back with the title, Mauer said, ``where it belongs, right?''

The Twins went on to lose 2-1 to Clay Buchholz and friends. Not too much game action to go over. Here are some injury updates.

Lefthander Scott Diamond, a lock for the starting rotation before he needed a bone chip removed from his elbow in December, is getting close to facing batters. Diamond has thrown a bullpen session every third day for around a week and is making steady progress. He will continue to throw every third day until around the 12th, where Twins could have him pitch live batting practice.

Righthander Rich Harden and lefthander Rafael Perez are both coming off of shoulder surgeries, Harden's more extensive than Perez's.
Both are slowly working their way back to the mound. Both threw in the bullpen early in camp, and it was determined that both pitchers needed more time. Both are going through long-toss drills.Twins GM Terry Ryan indicated that Perez is still working through some post-surgery discomfort. Harden needs to build strength and general flexibility -  the Twins knew it would be process with Harden when they signed him.
Both pitchers are weeks away from game action.

Righthander Cole DeVries has been named the starter for Monday against St. Louis in Jupiter. He’s stepping into the spot vacated by Samuel Deduno when he left camp to pitch for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic.

Outfielder Darin Mastroianni (left hamstring) is on track to return to action by the middle of next week.

Outfielder Oswaldo Arcia (intercostal muscle) could resume baseball activities sometime next week.
