A rush of blood

One of Britain's top bands mixes in new material from "Mylo Xyloto" along with such classics as "In My Place" in "Coldplay Live 2012" (7 p.m. Saturday, Epix). The only thing missing: Lead singer Chris Martin's wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, on cowbell.

From the hype department

There's a curiosity factor in watching "John Carter" (8 p.m. Saturday, Starz), if only because it's one of the biggest bombs in recent cinematic history. The film does look incredible, but the Starz publicist department should be slapped on the hands for labeling this "Disney's Sci-Fi Classic."

Girls, girls, girls

"The 40th Annual American Music Awards" (7 p.m. Sunday, KSTP, Ch. 5) might want to consider renaming itself "Girls Night Out." Scheduled performers include Nicki Minaj, Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift, Pink, Carrie Underwood and No Doubt.
