Cole De Vries has not won a game since June 30 - seven starts and one relief appearance ago. He ran into tough luck in a couple of those outings, but he was knocked out in the second inning on Friday against the Rays.

We're still waiting for the Twins lineup to be released to see if shortstop Pedro Florimon will start. The safe bet would be that he starts the game on the bench but enters late. But Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has been known to throw players right into the fire.

The Twins this morning officially announced their move to K-TWIN next season. It's not that surprising, as sports teams are slowly migrating to FM.

Will check back with updates.

UPDATES

Denard Span's sore right collarbone has improved, increasing the chances that he will be able to play Friday when the Twins open a three-game series in Seattle. Span  did some pre-game work today to get an idea of where he's at in his recovery. He said he has more range of motion and its much easier to do routine tasks, like putting on his shirt.

Florimon is expected to arrive around game time and could appear in the late innings. Gardy said Florimon is a very reliable fielder but his swing remains a work in progress. "He can pick it," Gardenhire said. "We saw that in spring training. Probably had the best hands in camp." Florimon is a natural shortatop but can play second base.

On this day in history: The Twins traded Delmon Young to the Tigers a year ago today...and Jim Thome hit his 600th career home run.
