If you're tired of watching 15 seeds pull off upsets and Gophers hockey blowing 3-0 leads, here are three quick thoughts following the Twins' 2-1 win over Boston:
1. Joe Benson is fun to watch in the field: He made two excellent running catches tonight, including a great grab of David Ortiz's drive to center in the fourth - Willie Mays style. Benson can fly. He said Ben Revere would beat him by a couple steps if they raced, but he also said he was timed at 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash during a football workout when he was in high school. Dude can fly. If he can cut down on strikeouts and harness that power, he's the Twins' center fielder for 10 years.
2. Sean Burroughs' bat: Burroughs was 2-for-4 on Friday, including a double that bounced off of the fake Green Monster. If he's going to make the team he's got to hit, and two hits on Friday raised his spring average to .250.
3. Signs of life from Morneau: Justin Morneau was 0-for-4 with a strikeout and is batting .115. But swung the bat with murderous intentions tonight, which could be a sign that his timing is coming around to the point where he's comfortable with letting it fly. We'll see how he goes from here.
