Wild-Edmonton game preview
- October 19, 2011 - 11:56 PM
Preview: The Wild has lost four of five and Edmonton has lost three of its past four games. Both teams are having trouble scoring. Wild coach Mike Yeo had his four lines in place at Tuesday's practice, but hinted one or two lineup changes could be made. One change he did make was to have top-line forwards Devin Setoguchi and Dany Heatley switch sides so they'd both be playing on their strong side.
Players to watch: It will be interesting to see how Heatley and Setoguchi respond to the switch. Both scored a goal on opening night, but Setoguchi has the only goal between them since. Goalie Niklas Backstrom is 19-2-1 all-time vs. Edmonton, 4-2-1 in Edmonton. For the Oilers, C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (4-1-5), LW Taylor Hall (1-3-4) and C Shawn Horcoff (0-4-4) lead in scoring. G Nikolai Khabibulin is 4-12-3 vs. the Wild.
Numbers: The Wild is struggling on special teams, scoring on only three of 23 power plays (13 percent) while standing 24th in the league on the penalty kill at 80 percent. ... The Wild has won eight consecutive games vs. the Oilers; its 14 victories in Edmonton are the most for the Wild in any opposing city.
Injuries: Wild D Greg Zanon (groin) missed Tuesday's practice but is expected to play. LW Cody Almond (back) and D Mike Lundin (back) are out. For Edmonton, C Sam Gagner (ankle), D Taylor Fedun (broken leg), RW Ales Hemsky (shoulder) and LW Darcy Hordichuk (knee) are on injured reserve. Hall (flulike symptoms) is questionable.
