Over the years, you end up talking to pitchers who have had a bad spring training experience with other teams because they didn't get enough innings to prove what they can do. I've heard tales of veteran pitchers making two outings then getting cut from camp.

This usually happens in camps with a lot of pitchers. The Twins have 27 pitchers in camp this year. I've seen worse (the Yankees have 35 in camp) but 27 is high for the Twins.

So manager Ron Gardenhire was asked if he'll be able to eyeball his pitchers enough to get a good feel for what they can do.

``We've got all kinds of games and try to get them in the best we can," Gardenhire said. ``We always do that. we'll mix and match pretty good. Get everybody out there and let them throw. Andy sees all of the bullpens, when they start throwing live BP to all of the hitters we'll see them then."

Anderson reminded Gardy that they can always schedule "B" games with the Red Sox or Rays to get pitchers work.

``If we ask for it and need it we can always call up another ballclub and set up a "B" game in the morning," Gardy said. ``That works out pretty good. Once the Minor League camp opens if there are guys we haven't seen enough we can let our guys go down there and let these guys pitch here."

"B" games? I've rarely heard of that possibility in 14 years covering this team.

Oh well, I'm headed out to watch some bullpen work - and see if Yorman Bazardo is here. Check back in the afternoon for updates.
