There will be a one-day special session of the Minnesota Legislature on Friday to approve flood relief for Duluth, northeastern Minnesota and other hard-hit areas, the governor announced.

Dayton and GOP and DFL leaders of the legislature signed off on the plan for a session. The group agreed to take up only flood relief in the session, which is to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, and can last no longer than until 7 a.m. Saturday.

A spreadsheet of the flood-relief package, initialed by all the participants, calls for $167.5 million in state assistance, less than the $195 million in state spending Dayton had originally proposed.
