DFLer Faust to vote for same-sex marriage

Posted by: under Minnesota legislature Updated: May 9, 2013 - 2:30 PM

Rep. Tim Faust, DFL-Hinckley, said he will vote in favor of same-sex marriage.

Faust, a minister, has been very guarded on the measure for past months. Residents in his district do not support same same-sex marriage and his vote could create trouble for his re-election efforts.

In one of the most stirring speeches of the debate, Faust said he can’t stand the thought that same-sex couples who cannot live without one another can’t get married.

“Do we as a society have the right to impose our religious beliefs on somebody else?” he asked.
