Virginia L. '(Ginger)' Bakken

Bakken, Virginia L. (Ginger) age 88 of Blacksburg, VA, took her last breath on September 2nd, 2015 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. She was born in Fernwood, Idaho on July 25th, 1927 to the late Tom and Aggie Vigue. Ginger is survived by her husband Norman K. Bakken of Blacksburg, VA, and children Mark S. Bakken, Mary E. Bakken and husband Peter Ozolins, and John T. Bakken and wife Liza. Also surviving are Beheru A. Haile, his wife Ayalnesh and a total of five grandchildren, Marija, Tiana, Mateo, Meklit and Abel Norman. Ginger was preceded in death by many loved ones, including daughter Minda Marie Bakken. Norman and Ginger were married on August 23rd, 1946. Over 69 years of marriage they lived and worked in eight different states and nine different countries. Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday, September 10th, 2015 at 4 PM at Luther Memorial Church in Blacksburg with the Rev. Bill King officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
