Jerry is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends Chuck and Penny Wojciak. Jerry grew up in Northeast Minneapolis and attended Edison High School. He graduated early to enlist in the Navy and was a World War II veteran. Jerry received an associate's degree from the University of Minnesota and received a senior accounting degree from the Minnesota School of Business. He began a lifelong career in banking at Marquette Bank in Minneapolis. In 1954, he was named head cashier for Crystal State Bank. He later purchased Crystal State Bank and served as President and Chairman of the Board until its acquisition by Wayzata Bank and Trust. He also owned Crystal State (Insurance) Agency and Crystal Travel Service/ Full Service Travel. He was a past president of Minnesota Bankers Association (1968-69), former board member of the Wasie Foundation, trustee emeritus of the University of St. Thomas, former president of the Minneapolis Golf Club, parishioner of the Church of St. Raphael, civic leader, and philanthropist. An avid golfer, Jerry accomplished a golfing feat when twice he made a hole-in-one on the same hole, while playing with the same partner. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Palm Springs and Las Vegas. One of his greatest and most lasting accomplishments was as co-founder of the St. Therese Care Center in New Hope. In 1968, Jerry was a young husband, father of seven girls, and a business owner who recognized a need to improve services for the Catholic elderly in the Twin Cities. With the support of his wife, Ursula, and with a deep spiritual devotion to Saint Therese the Little Flower, he helped establish the Saint Therese Care Center of New Hope. Jerry served as a board member, donor and advocate for the elderly. In 2011, he and Ursula were awarded the Aging Services of Minnesota Trustee of the Year award which recognized their efforts in enriching the lives of the elderly and enhancing their community. Throughout his life, faith and family guided his activities. As he once stated, "All I ever wanted to be was a good citizen." He felt the five words for a successful life were: "Please", "Thank you", and "I'm sorry". The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his caregivers at St. Therese Care Center in New Hope for their compassionate, supportive and loving care. Most of all Jerry loved his family. He leaves an incredible legacy and will be missed dearly.
