Duff, David Jones age 86, of Wayzata, passed away on July 5, 2015. David was born in Minneapolis in 1929 and grew up in Maplewoods on Lake Minnetonka. He graduated from Blake School ('46) and Yale University and served two years in the U.S. Army. Following some years of living in New York City and attending Columbia University, David returned home and married Anne Elizabeth Boos. After a short career in investments at Piper, Jaffray & Hopwood, David worked for the Suburban weekly newspapers for nearly 30 years, previewed by some free-lance writing about restaurants that continued for many years. David spent much of the last years of his life focused on helping others. He volunteered his time at Hennepin County Libraries and loved helping family and friends. He did so in his usual kind, soft-spoken manner and was engaged in endless activities with friends, whether it be dog-walking, house-sitting, carpooling to weekly social gatherings or just being a true companion. David was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Boos Duff and son David. He is survived by his sons, Andrew and Nicholas; daughter Elizabeth; grandchildren Meredith, Walter, Madeline, Lillian, Alex and Daria. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 16 at 2:00 pm at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis. Donations may be made to the Hennepin County Libraries or charitable organization of your choice.
