Frieda E. Olson, age 69 of Swanville, MN died August 8, 2002 at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville, MN with the Rev. John Grein officiating. Interment will be in Springbrook Cemetery in Swanville. Friend may call from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Frieda Elizabeth Olson was born December 24, 1932 in Darling Township, Morrison County, MN, near Randall, MN to the late Albert A. & Helena E. (Theile) Petrich. She grew up in rural Randall and graduated from Little Falls High School. After graduation, she worked at the American National Bank in Little Falls. Frieda was united in marriage to Glenn D. Olson on February 2, 1957 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Randall. The couple made their home near Swanville on the farm where Glenn was born. They farmed together until Glenn's death on August 9, 1999. Frieda was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, adventures large and small, and spending time with her family and friends. She devoted much of her time to caring for others and found joy in life around her. Frieda is survived by her daughters, Sandra Olson-Loy & husband, Douglas, of Starbuck, MN and Cheryl Olson of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Ella Axel of Little Falls, MN & Hedy Wurdelman & husband, Carl, of Randall, MN; sisters-in-law, Elvera Petrich & Ruth Petrich of Randall, MN, Verona Stoll of Melrose, MN, Jeanette Olson of Wichita, KS, Irene Olson of St. Paul, MN & Helen Olson of Elkhorn, WI; brother-in-law, Wayne Olson of Swanville, MN, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Olson, two infant children, her parents, sisters, Elizabeth Hofer, Hilda Baker, Gertrude Stevens, Adeline Bottom, Magdelina Petrich & brothers, William, Albert, Werner & Helmut Petrich. Special thanks to all the gifted medical staff at Fairview University Medical Center who shared their talents and compassion with Frieda and her family over the past five years. We will always remember with gratitude the special contributions of Melissa King-Biggs, MD, Bobbie Rosenthal, RN, R. Morton Bolman, MD, Christine Wendt, MD, Marshall Hertz, MD, Jordon Dunitz, MD, Kris Strasburg, RN, Jagadish Patil, MD, Eric Nussbaum, MD, John Drygas, MD, & Chris Christenssen, RN. A lung transplant at the University of Minnesota Medical Center on July 24, 1997 gave Frieda a second chance at life.
